Candidates can now accept the ‘admission offer’ and submit the ‘commitment fee’ to potentially upgrade their seats in the next round if they want to float (ie they are ready to upgrade their allotment).

The candidate can be upgraded within the same faculty, implying that they will get a higher preference within the same program. In more detail, the university has explained that in such circumstances, the candidate will be forced to take up the new programme. Thus, if a student initially allotted for BA Social Sciences History (Hons) in the first round decides to float and in the second round, they get a higher priority like BA Social Sciences Economics (Hons), they must accept. Economics (Hons) and cannot return to History (Hons).

The university will announce up to eight rounds of seat allotment. The counting of vacancies will be conducted on August 16 after the regular round of counselling. If candidates receive ‘Offer of Admission’ to other faculties or programmes, they will have the option to either remain in their original allotment or transfer to a new faculty. . If a candidate accepts an offer and moves to a new faculty (eg, if they initially pay a commitment fee for BA Social Science History (Hons) and subsequently transfer to BCom), their return to BA Social Science History will not be allowed. (Hons.). If they choose to stick with BA Social Science History (Hons) and leave B.Com, they will not be considered for B.Com in future. BHU added, “Requests to revert to previous allotment will not be entertained under any circumstances once the candidate has upgraded or moved to another faculty/programme.”

A candidate in the waiting list in the previous round can get guaranteed seat in the next round. In this case, again, they can get ‘offer of admission’ in one or more courses and the rules will remain the same, the university said.
